3 Ways to Serve TriCity Family Services

Help us achieve our mission: TriCity Family Services (TCFS) is a private, not-for-profit, human service agency serving the community members and organizations of central Kane County. The agency is dedicated to strengthening people and building community through the provision of quality, affordable counseling, youth crisis intervention, prevention, and early intervention services that promote sound mental health and effective family functioning.

Volunteer: The opportunity to make a difference in someone's life is at the heart of the volunteer experience. At TriCity Family Services, we recognize that volunteers are a valuable resource and our best ambassadors. Volunteers make the choice to help. Simply because they care, volunteers have a far-reaching positive impact on our clients and the community.

Opportunities and Positions:  We know that individual skills and interests vary and that not everyone can volunteer the same amount of time.

Therefore, we offer 3 opportunities with various time commitments:

Become a board member, a board committee volunteer, and/or a Friend of TriCity Family Services.

Become a Board Member:

Our board of directors of the TriCity Family Services accepts the responsibilities inherent in governance of the agency and for fulfilling its mission. Through their leadership they establish sources of funding, an adequate pool of volunteers, and a good professional staff to help TCFS meet its goals and achieve its mission to serve our community.

Our board members commit to:

  • Understand the organization and mission of TriCity Family Services to help people in need and share that understanding with friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

  •  Actively prepare for and participate in board meetings helping lead the organization to better performance. They also agree to help develop long-term goals and prepare TCFS for the future.

  •  Help the board support and give direction to the Executive Director.

  •  Serve actively on at least one standing committee of the organization.

  • Help ensure that TriCity Family Services maintains adequate sources of funds and that when donated, those funds will be protected and spent reasonably as donors would desire.

  •  Help the organization raise funds by helping TCFS reach out to individuals, organizations, governments, foundations, and corporations for donations.

A Board Committee Volunteer:

If being a full-time board member is more than you can commit to - be a Board Committee Volunteer for TriCity Family Services.   We have created this new position to help the board perform critical responsibilities and to tap into the tremendous talent we have in our community.

Board Committee Volunteers commit to:

  • Support the organization and mission of TriCity Family Services to help people in need and share that understanding with friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

  • Assist with one of our standing board, or advisory committees, or play a lead role in one of our fund raising events, to ensure that TriCity Family Services maintains adequate sources of funds.

  • Help the organization reach out to individuals, organizations, governments, foundations, and corporations for donations.

  • There is no minimal personal donation required.

  • Time commitment can vary based on personal availability.

Join the Friends of TriCity Family Services:

The Friends of TriCity Family Services is a network of volunteers with a history of supporting the agency in a variety of ways.  The Friends have a strong commitment to raising at least 10% of the agency's annual budget.  This goal is accomplished with major fund-raising events – including an Annual Benefit & Auction, and the Lobster Fly-in.

In addition, the Friends step forward to fill individual client needs - baby-sitting, providing transportation, donating household items and clothing, and more.  They also serve the agency in providing occasional office work - answering phones, bulk mailing tasks, providing a monthly day of appreciation for the staff and more.

Membership - Annual dues for the Friends of TriCity Family Services are $15 & a lifetime membership is $150.   Time commitment can vary based on personal availability.
