Ryan Potempa joined TriCity Family Services in 2017, after receiving his master’s degree in applied child & family studies with a specialization in marriage and family therapy (MFT) earlier that year. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2015, from Bradley University and his master’s degree from an accredited program at Northern Illinois University.
Trained in Prepare/Enrich couples techniques, The Gottman Method for couples, and having attended numerous play therapy and parenting trainings, Potempa has a diverse array of experiences to assist those in any stage of life. As an AMFT therapist, he enjoys helping others recognize patterns in their lives that may contribute to their struggles. He primarily treats those dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem/self-confidence, and poor communication with others. Potempa is also dedicated to empowering those with a history of trauma to help them overcome their wounds from the past.
Recognizing that in our fast-paced world life can often get overwhelming and burdensome, Potempa strives to make therapy an insightful, yet comforting, experience so as to encourage time to slow down enough to help process the emotions that often get overlooked. It is through this mindful slowing down that he believes lasting change can be achieved.
Potempa has been married since 2018 and enjoys astronomy, bike riding, hiking, baseball, and playing board games with family and friends.
