WRAP Process
WRAP is a process in which the following
steps typically occur:
-
A family identifies the key people
in a child's life and agrees to invite them to be a
part of a Child & Family Team.
-
Meetings are scheduled to include as
many team members as possible and the meetings are
held in the most comfortable place for the family.
-
Meetings are brainstorming sessions
in which 9 areas (life domains) of a child's life
are discussed to list a child's strengths and needs.
-
The team looks at how these
strengths and needs relate to the average child of
the same age.
-
The team brainstorms ways to use the
child's strengths to meet his/her needs.
-
Between meetings, team members take
responsibility for gathering information about programs
or services the child could possibly join; the team
may also consider services that are needed that do
not yet exist in the area.
-
Once the team has chosen a plan of
action, they have the chance to present a plan to the
Local Area Network (LAN) for funding for some parts
of the plan.
-
The team meets to review and update
the plan as needed.
WRAP meetings occur weekly or biweekly
until the WRAP plan is made; then the team might meet
monthly or less. The scheduling varies with each
team.
