Amber Reeves, M.A.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology and dance theatre from Western Illinois University, Amber Reeves went on to earn her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Illinois School of Professional Psychology.

Reeves has worked in community mental health since 2016. Over the years, she’s had the opportunity to offer individualized therapy for children, teens, and adults in an outpatient setting, lead anger management groups, provide community-based counseling services for children and adolescents experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems at home, school, or in their community, and work with students within a therapeutic day school setting utilizing the REStArT model as a way to work collaboratively with the student and their family to reach their personal and academic goals.

In 2018, Reeves was hired as a consulting “expert” for a software company and played an integral part of laying the foundation for their telehealth communication platform, which went on to become an invaluable tool in the mental health world during the Covid pandemic. After leaving the consulting role, she transitioned to a role as a community mental health therapist in the City of Chicago serving under-represented populations. Working within a multidisciplinary team, Reeves shared responsibility for providing rehabilitative behavioral health support services while developing trauma-informed, person-oriented treatment plan(s) that prompts resilience-oriented skills.

Reeves joined TriCity Family Services as a therapist in 2021, where she is also trained in the Family-Based Treatment for the Eating Disorders Program. Her passion is centered on building strong therapeutic bonds that allow for clients to feel safe and supported as they work on their personal journey towards self-actualization. While her therapeutic approach can be varied to meet each client’s individual needs, she enjoys utilizing psychodynamic and client-centered approaches, while placing focus on a strength-based approach that empowers the individual to achieve their goals.
