Mary McFarland joined TriCity Family Services as a full-time therapist in May 2023. She earned her masters of social work, at Aurora University in 2023 and her bachelors of social work in 2022 also from Aurora University. Through her schooling, McFarland had the opportunities to complete two internships. Her first internship was completed at Community Access Naperville, a nonprofit that provides unique day programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her second internship placement was at Adventure Works (AW) of DeKalb, where she ran multiple therapy groups for kiddos and teens and provided individual therapy services, family therapy services, and conducted intake assessments. McFarland has a great deal of involvement in working with children/adolescents and people diagnosed with Autism.
McFarland has a passion for helping people feel at their best, recognize their strengths, and build strategies to assist them with life experiences. McFarland likes to provide a safe place for her clients to work through difficult feelings and situations by creating a warm and welcoming environment.
In McFarland’s free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, going out to eat, thrifting, spending as much time as possible outside, and being active. One of her favorite sayings is: “Hurt people hurt people. But, healed people heal people.”
