International Child/Parent Development Program

TriCity Family Services invites families with children with special needs to participate in the International Child/Parent Development Program (ICDP) at the Pottawatomie Community Center in St. Charles.  The program begins with a Family Welcome Night in August and continues with a series of parents’ interactive learning groups and related children’s activity groups from September through December.

ICDP promotes practical and effective strategies that can be used to enhance parent-child relationships, self-esteem, and self-control through routine, daily interactions.  Discussions and activities throughout the program are supportive, and challenge all participants (including the facilitators) to interact with family members thoughtfully and with empathy to enhance loving families and to help children become strong learners and leaders.

Michelle Clark, LCPC, NCC, and Melissa Sofia, LCSW, will co-facilitate the parenting portions of the program, bringing experience from their work as therapists, group leaders, and parents.  Melissa Sofia also brings a wealth of experience as a school social worker working with students with special needs.

Start the next school year off with a strong commitment to your family by joining the ICDP today!  For more information about the program or to register, contact Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation at (630) 909-9411 or registration@changingchildrensworlds.org.
