TriCity Family Services Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program

Looking to give back to those in need this Holiday season?

Through our  Adopt-a-Family Program, we provide gifts, food and holiday cheer to our client families in need.

Our clinical staff offers the Adopt-a-Family program to agency client families who are experiencing a difficult time, and are in financial need of help during the holiday season.  Our clients fill out a wish list of gift cards or items including sizes and favorite colors ages and gender of each family member. Gift cards or wrapped gifts can be dropped off at the agency the week of December 5th through December 9th.  During the season of giving, we are so proud to be able to give the low-income and struggling families we serve a big helping hand, beyond the counseling and supportive services they receive from us on a regular basis.  Last  year we were able to provide gifts and bring joy to 110 families, including 227 adults and 229 children.

GIFT CARDS

Offering the most choice for our clients, gift cards are a highly requested item in our Holiday program.  The most frequently requested are:

  • Grocery stores
  • Gas cards
  • All-purpose stores like Target, Meijer, and Walmart
  • Home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowes
  • Family clothing stores like Kohl’s and Old Navy
  • Popular teen clothing stores like H & M, Hollister and Aeropostale

Some of our generous donors have chosen to do a gift card drive at their workplace, or to ask guests at their holiday parties to bring a gift card to donate to the TriCity Family Services Christmas Adopt-a-Family Program.

FOOD BASKETS

In addition to gifts, we try to provide each client family participating in the  Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program with a bountiful food basket for their holiday meal.  Food baskets contain non-perishable holiday meal fixings and other special treats to help our client families without a lot of money to stock the pantry, and enjoy a good holiday meal.

Some creative ideas for food sponsors are to include candles, table decorations, or cooking containers in their food basket.  Donors have also used laundry baskets, or large storage containers to hold all the food and supplies, so client families who receive them can put the container to use in their home, as well.
